The Challenge
Running trails at high altitude is, indeed, a breathtaking experience. Dullstroom is the setting, at 2100m above sea level, our little village is the perfect spot to do some high altitude running. Exertion at high altitude is more difficult than at sea level because of the reduced partial pressure of oxygen as elevation rises, impairing the oxygenation of blood flowing through the lungs, and ultimately resulting in diminished oxygen supply to working muscles. So to compensate, the heart works harder to maintain the same pace.
That’s why we’re calling it the “Dullies Altitude Challenge”. It’s easy to do a 21km in Durban or Cape Town, but can you keep the pace in Dullstroom?
Keen?
Then keep 21 July 2018 open for the next Dullstroom High Altitude Charity Challenge.
